US men's national team fans hoping to see Christian Pulisic return to action with Chelsea this weekend will have to wait at least a little longer. The attacking midfielder, who withdrew from the US camp last week, remains sidelined with a "problematic" hamstring injury, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said Thursday.

"Christian Pulisic is not fit for Newcastle but he’s stepped up his training slowly," Lampard said during his press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League match. "It’s been quite a problematic injury so we’ll stay cautious."

Pulisic suffered the injury in warmups for Chelsea's game against Burnley on Oct. 31. While he was called up by USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter for this month's camp in Europe, he returned to Chelsea before games against Wales and Panama.

“Christian is a big part of our group,” Berhalter said last week. “He has been working through an injury, but it really says a lot that he wanted to come into camp, be around the guys and continue to be a leader with this team.”

Pulisic has been limited to just three Premier League appearances so far this season having missed the start of the campaign while recovering from a hamstring injury suffered in the FA Cup final on Aug. 1.
