COLORADO RAPIDS vs VANCOUVER WHITECAPS
DICK'S SPORTING GOODS PARK, Commerce City, Colo.
July 4, 2015 (WEEK 18, MLS Game #182)
9 p.m. ET (TSN)

Two teams at opposite ends of the Western Conference meet when the Colorado Rapids entertain Vancouver Whitecaps FC on their annual Fourth of July extravaganza Saturday evening at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids return home riding a six-game winless run in league play, sitting at the foot of the West following a 2-0 defeat at Sporting Kansas City last weekend. Whitecaps FC have taken over the leadership of the division as they conclude a five-game road swing, winning their third in a row in a 2-1 victory at the New England Revolution last weekend.

  • The Rapids had their current winless run extended to six matches with a second consecutive defeat, falling 2-0 at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday evening. The Rapids have one victory in their last 12 league matches, dating back to April 18.
  • Whitecaps FC conclude their five-game road swing after making it three wins in a row and taking over the lead in the Western Conference with their 2-1 win at the New England Revolution on Saturday evening.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Lucas Pittinari scored the game’s only goal early in the second half to lead the Rapids to victory, May 23 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
  • The Rapids have won the last four meetings between the teams at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park; Whitecaps FC won there in 2012 for their lone triumph on the Rapids’ home ground. The Rapids win last April 5 in Vancouver was only their second victory ever at BC Place
