The new Columbus Crew SC stadium is taking shape, with the construction project manager promising it will outshine the stadium being built for Austin FC, the expansion MLS side chaired by Anthony Precourt, the former Crew SC owner.
“We know that and we know ours will be the best,” Brian Mooney, vice president and project manager for Turner Construction told the Columbus Dispatch.
Mooney and Crew president and GM Tim Bezbatchenko gave the Dispatch a tour of the construction project, which is scheduled to be completed by next July.
The next big milestone will be enclosing the “entire canopy and the structure,” by the end of the year, Mooney said. Construction is scheduled to start on the Nordecke in early September. The seating area in the stadium will, theoretically, be covered from the elements.
"But it will hold the noise in,” Bezbatchenko said. “And it’ll look darn cool.”
