Dynamo sign former USL 'keeper Brown

Calle Brown - Pittsburgh Riverhounds

The Houston Dynamo announced on Thursday they have signed goalkeeper Calle Brown. Per club and league policy, terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

Brown, 23, recently finished his first professional season for USL side Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The 6-foot-5 goalkeeper made 14 appearances (13 starts) and tallied five shutouts while allowing just 1.14 goals per game. The Leesburg, Virginia native led the University of Virginia to the 2014 NCAA men’s soccer national championship, earning College Cup Most Valuable Defensive Player honors.

“Calle is a goalkeeper our staff has tracked and monitored over the course of the last couple seasons,” Dynamo vice president and general manager Matt Jordan said in a team statement. “He’s coming off a very strong USL season and we look forward to him joining the Houston Dynamo.”

“Calle is a young, talented goalkeeper who will benefit from working with [goalkeepers coach] Paul Rogers and alongside Tyler [Deric] and Joe [Willis],” Dynamo head coach Owen Coyle said. “We are delighted to bring him to the club.”
