Goal of the Week

Inter Miami's Mikey Ambrose wins AT&T Goal of the Week after Week 24 stunner

Which long-range stunner earner Week 24 Goal of the Week?

Week 24 had no shortage of long-range blasts that left goalkeepers pawing at air, but only one could be named AT&T Goal of the Week.

After the votes were counted, that honor went to Inter Miami CF left back Mikey Ambrose with 38.10% of the tally. It was Ambrose’s first goal with the expansion club, and an important one at that since the Herons booked an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spot with the eventual 2-1 victory over FC Cincinnati on Decision Day presented by AT&T.

There was then a tight pack for goals No. 2 through No. 5, with Orlando City SC winger Nani taking second place with 18.22% of the vote. The Portuguese star curled home a picture-perfect free kick for his sixth goal of the season.

While it came in a losing effort, Joseph-Claude Gyau’s left-footed curler impressed enough to earn 15.51% of the vote and slot into third place. Stretching back to last season, it was the winger’s first goal in 29 games for FC Cincinnati.

As for fourth place, it went to Nashville SC left back Daniel Lovitz (14.76% of the vote) and San Jose Earthquakes left back Marcos Lopez (13.40% of the vote) brought up the rear. Lovitz’s was a right-footed curler that marked his first goal since August 2018, while Lopez guided a left-footed free kick home from a tight angle.
