Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s time with the LA Galaxy included plenty of headlines, though few had more global resonance than a Sept. 15, 2018 match at Toronto FC.
How come, you ask? Zlatan scored the 500th goal of his illustrious career, one where his mercurial personality had previously shaped Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United and other world-renowned clubs.
That moment is the subject of the next “MLS Classics” series installment, though plenty else unfolded that night at BMO Field. The match included eight goals from eight different players, plus 10 different yellow cards. Simply put, it was one of the 2018 season’s most entertaining games as the likes of Zlatan, Sebastian Giovinco and Jonathan dos Santos balled out.
