The Montreal Impact are no longer the only top-flight soccer club owned by Joey Saputo.
Italian club Bologna – which Saputo bought in September – earned promotion back to Serie A on Monday, drawing Pescara 1-1 to win the Serie B playoff final on aggregate and nab the league’s third and final promotion place.
Bologna return to Serie A after just one year in the second division. The club finished the Serie B reguar season tied for third place, then advanced past Avellino and Pescara in the playoffs to win the promotion playoffs and join regular-season champions Carpi and runners-up Frosinone in the top flight.
