Montreal Impact vs. Seattle Sounders

The Montréal Impact and Seattle Sounders FC meet in a critical match in the playoff aspirations of both clubs when they clash at Stade Saputo on Saturday evening. The Impact come into the game three points out of a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, yet with games in hand on the rest of the division, following their 2-1 defeat at Sporting Kansas City last weekend. Sounders FC are hanging onto a tie for the final spot in the Western Conference, following a second consecutive defeat in a 1-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids at CenturyLink Field last weekend.
- Ignacio Piatti scored for a third time in the last four games, but the Impact suffered a 2-1 loss at Sporting KC on Saturday evening. Piatti has a goal and/or an assist in four consecutive games, with three goals and an assist in that time.
- Sounders suffered their second consecutive defeat by a 1-0 scoreline – their fifth loss in their six league games – in their defeat by the Colorado Rapids at CenturyLink Field on Saturday. Sounders FC have been shut out four times in those five defeats.
- Sounders FC won for the first time in three meetings all-time in the series last year, a 2-0 win March 23, 2014 at Olympic Stadium in Montréal.
- The Impact won the first two meetings between the teams, a 4-1 win in 2012 at Stade Saputo, then a 1-0 victory in the only meeting at CenturyLink Field, March 2, 2013.
