The New England Revolution's backline has taken a hit.

The Revolution announced Friday that Darrius Barnes (pictured above, left) underwent successful surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee on Thursday and will be sidelined for the next six months. New England have placed Barnes on the Disabled List in the meantime.

Barnes, 28, has started four of the five matches he's played in for the Revolution this season, filling in at both right back and center back. He recorded on assist in those games, setting up Kelyn Rowe for the game-winner against the San Jose Earthquakes on March 28.

One of the longest tenured members of the club, Barnes has appeared in 125 regular-season games for the club. He has scored twice and added four assists while also making 107 starts.
