Kwadwo Poku's rapid ascent continues after the New York City FC midfielder was called up by Ghana for a friendly against Canada on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The red side of New York will be represented as well, with Red Bulls winger Lloyd Sam also in the squad.

Poku has played 25 games for NYCFC (six starts), scoring four goals and adding seven assists in his first MLS season. This is the 23-year-old's first international call-up. Participation in the game will not cap-tie him to Ghana.

Sam has 10 goals and six assists in 28 games for the Supporters' Shield leaders.
