It appears that Shaun Maloney's first year in MLS will also be his last.

Orrin Schwarz of the Daily Herald reported on Thursday that Chicago Fire head coach Frank Yallop all but confirmed Maloney's departure from the club. Maloney, a Designated Player signed in January, is allegedly set to join Hull City in the English second division. Yallop indicated the move was requested by Maloney for personal reasons.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce mentioned Maloney might be close to leaving Chicago earlier in the week, saying that the Scotland international was "close" to joining his club.

The 32-year-old Maloney has started each of the 14 league games he has played for the Fire this season. He scored three goals and had two assists.
