The Houston Dynamo are close to adding Instituto forward Mateo Bajamich, according to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo. The 21-year-old, his report adds, would come via a $1.2 million transfer fee for 80% of the player’s rights.

Bajamich has nine goals in 29 matches since joining Instituto's first team in 2019. They compete in Primera B Nacional, the second flight of professional soccer in Argentina.

Bajamich could fit the profile of Dynamo additions since head coach Tab Ramos took over. They recently signed Costa Rican forward Ariel Lassiter on loan from LD Alajuelense, plus inked US youth international Ian Hoffman to a pre-contract for the 2021 season. Ramos has also placed an emphasis on adding Homegrown talent.

It’s still the early days for Ramos in Houston, and they’ve primarily found offense through Darwin Quintero and Alberth Elis. They’re known commodities around MLS, so perhaps a young prospect like Bajamich would add another dimension.
