In their continued search for attacking talent, the New York Red Bulls are pursuing 2. Bundesliga striker Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, according to German outlet Bild.

Kyereh had helped Wehen Wiesbaden earn promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, but was not re-signed after the club were relegated back to the third tier this past season.

FC St. Pauli, another 2. Bundesliga side, are thought to be frontrunners for Kyereh, who had six goals and seven assists in his first season in Germany's second flight. But New York have an in with director of scouting Paul Fernie, who was previously in the same role at Wehen Wiesbaden before coming to MLS in 2018.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian Kyereh had 15 goals to go with three assists in the third tier in 2018/19. He has played most often at center forward but can also play in a wide left or central attacking midfield role.

The Red Bulls are still looking for a reliable No. 9 after parting ways with Bradley Wright-Phillips before the season. Daniel Royer was the club's leading scorer with 11 goals in 2019, but the Austrian is more of a natural winger than out-and-out forward.
