The San Jose Earthquakes announced on Wednesday that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with defender Brandon Barklage.

Barklage, 28, joined the Earthquakes in 2014 and appeared in 13 games for the team last season. He joined the Quakes via the 2013 Re-Entry process after two seasons with the New York Red Bulls.

Selected by D.C. United in the 2009 SuperDraft, Barklage spent three seasons with United but saw his progress hampered by two serious knee injuries. A product of St. Louis University, he's made 69 regular-season appearances (49 starts) with two goals and 10 assists over his MLS career.
