The San Jose Earthquakes have turned to youth to bolster their squad.

The California club announced on Wednesday that they have claimed midfielder Matheus Silva off waivers, pending receipt of a P-1 visa and ITC. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Brazilian-born Silva, 18, was one of the top prep players this year, leading Florida's Montverde Academy to an undefeated record. He has most often played as a holding midfielder and defender.
