SEATTLE SOUNDERS vs. COLORADO RAPIDS
CENTURYLINK FIELD, Seattle, Wash.
July 18, 2015 (MLS Game #200)
10 pm ET (MLS LIVE)
It’s a meeting of teams at opposite ends of the Western Conference table when Seattle Sounders FC and the Colorado Rapids face off for a third time this season on Saturday evening at CenturyLink Field. Sounders FC return home following a 1-0 loss at the Chicago Fire last weekend, though they still remain in a tie atop the division. The Rapids have won back-to-back matches for a first time this season following their 3-1 home win against Rocky Mountain rivals Real Salt Lake last weekend, but still sit at the foot of the West standings.
- Sounders FC suffered their fourth consecutive road loss – and their fourth defeat in their last five league games overall – falling 1-0 at the Chicago Fire on Saturday evening.
- The Rapids have won back-to-back games for the first time this season, scoring three goals from the 81st minute onward to roar back for a 3-1 win against Real Salt Lake on Saturday evening at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
- The teams are meeting for the third time this season, and Sounders FC have won both previous. Lamar Neagle scored twice within the opening 25 minutes as Sounders FC took a 3-1 win April 18 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park; Marco Pappa scored the game’s lone goal for a Seattle win May 27 at CenturyLink Field.
- The Rapids have never won in Seattle. They have won just once vs. Seattle over the last five seasons, a 5-1 victory on Oct. 5, 2013 in Commerce City. Since the start of 2011, Sounders FC have 12 of 14 meetings in regular season and MLS Cup play, with one draw.
