Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC meet in their Cascadia Cup clash of the season when the clubs face off at CenturyLink Field on Saturday evening. Sounders FC won for the first time ever at BC Place in the first meeting, a 2-0 win in May. Sounders FC come into the game off three consecutive 1-0 defeats, last a loss at the Montréal Impact. Whitecaps FC snapped a three-game winless run last time out, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 in B.C.

  • Sounders FC got off to the perfect start, taking the lead after just five minutes. Collecting a bouncing ball in midfield, Clint Dempsey played in Chad Barrett and he outpaced the Whitecaps FC backline to finish low past goalkeeper David Ousted.
  • Sounders FC doubled their lead with seven minutes remaining in the half. Barrett struck again, getting on the end of a perfectly weighted pass from Marco Pappa before volleying past Ousted from a tight angle, the finish capping off a 25-pass sequence.
