There are more ways than one to stop a dangerous set-piece attempt. There's good man-to-man marking, an airtight wall and a goalkeeper who's good off his line.
Or you can just turn on the sprinklers.
That's how the Colorado Rapids were foiled just as they were about to deliver a dead ball in the 47th minute at Sporting Park on Saturday night.
The water break lasted for a little over a minute before play continued. Sporting Kansas City sideline reporter Jake Yadrich got to the bottom of what triggered the sudden disturbance.
"As it turns out, one of the groundskeepers had the app that controls the sprinkler system accidentally open on his phone," Yadrich said. "And he accidentally grazed the button in his pocket, hence turning on the sprinklers."
But if you're going to have sprinklers go off in the middle of a game, might as well make the most of it:
