Toronto FC and New York City FC meet for the first time ever when the Eastern Conference foes face off at BMO Field on Saturday evening. Toronto FC have won three games in a row in MLS play to match their club record, coming off a 2-1 win at division leaders D.C. United two weeks ago. New York City FC have won back-to-back league games for the first time in their history, following their 3-1 win against the Montréal Impact last weekend at Yankee Stadium.

  • Toronto FC won their third game in a row and extended their overall undefeated streak to four games last time out, a 2-1 win against D.C. United at RFK Stadium on June 6. The three consecutive wins match the club record, set twice previously, April 13-26, 2008 and July 11-18, 2012.
  • Sebastian Giovinco scored two goals in a game for the second time in his MLS career, hitting for both goals in TFC’s win at D.C. United. Giovinco has seven goals and five assists in the last nine games, involved in 12 of TFC’s 15 goals in that span, dating back to April 4.
  • New York City FC have won back-to-back games for the first time in MLS, recording a 3-1 win against the Montréal Impact on Saturday evening at Yankee Stadium. NYCFC is undefeated in their last three starts, also a club record.
  • David Villa scored a goal and added an assist in the same game for the second time in his MLS career in the win vs. Montréal. Villa leads NYCFC with four goals for the season.
