Álvaro Barreal was acquired by FC Cincinnati on Sept. 2, 2020 via transfer from Argentinian side Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield using Allocation Money.
2023 (FC Cincinnati): Appeared in a career-high and club-high 34 games, starting in 32, where he mirrored his 2022 season with five goals and nine assists … named to the MLS Team of the Week on eight occasions (6-Bench, 9, 11-Bench, 16, 24-Bench, 29, 33, 37), second on the club behind Acosta … named an MLS All-Star for the first time in his career joining a short list of FC Cincinnati players to receive the nod (Acosta and Vazquez) … achieved five games with two-or-more goal contributions, including a two goal performance in the first game of the MLS Cup Playoffs in a 3-0 shutout against the New York Red Bulls … four of his 14 goal contributions came during the four-game stretch of the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs … goal against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on June 6 in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals featured as the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.

2021 (FC Cincinnati): Appeared in all but one game, playing in 33 games including 26 starts, where he scored three goals and added three assists … started the first five games of the season including at Nashville SC in the opener (April 17) … scored the first ever FC Cincinnati goal at TQL Stadium with his 59th minute strike vs. Inter Miami CF in the stadium’s opener (May 16) … his 50th minute free-kick was the game-winner in the 1-0 win at Chicago Fire FC (June 23) … two games later scored again at Houston Dynamo FC, when his fifth minute goal was the fastest equalizer in club history in the 1-1 tie … recorded his first MLS assist at CF Montréal (July 17) … assisted Brenner’s goal on August 7 in a 1-1 stalemate at TQL Stadium … earned an assist in the 2-0 win over Toronto FC (Sept. 11).
